{"id":138,"date":"2017-07-23T17:17:30","date_gmt":"2017-07-24T00:17:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nadynerichmond.com\/dinnerfortwo\/?p=138"},"modified":"2017-07-23T17:17:30","modified_gmt":"2017-07-24T00:17:30","slug":"luxury-brownies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nadynerichmond.com\/dinnerfortwo\/2017\/07\/23\/luxury-brownies\/","title":{"rendered":"luxury brownies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are at least a million brownie recipes out there. \u00a0This is my current favorite, based on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cocoandme.com\/2007\/03\/04\/luxury-brownies-with-secret-recipe\/\">this one<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>1 cup + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li>1-1\/2 cup sugar<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup cocoa powder<\/li>\n<li>4 eggs<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 cup (1-1\/2 sticks) butter<\/li>\n<li>8oz bittersweet chocolate, broken in small pieces for melting<\/li>\n<li>1-1\/2 cup mixed chopped nuts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Directions<\/h2>\n<p>Preheat oven to 350F. \u00a0Butter an 8&#215;8 tin, and line with parchment paper.<\/p>\n<p>In a medium bowl, whisk together dry ingredients. \u00a0In a small bowl, whisk together eggs and set aside.<\/p>\n<p>In a medium saucepan, melt butter over low heat, stirring occasionally until completely melted. \u00a0Add chocolate, and stir until completely melted. \u00a0Remove from heat. \u00a0Slowly stir in the eggs, then stir in the dry ingredients. \u00a0Quickly stir in the chopped nuts. \u00a0Spread batter in prepared 8&#215;8 tin, then place in preheated oven.<\/p>\n<p>Bake for 30-40 minutes, until edges have set and the center doesn&#8217;t wobble when you shake it. \u00a0Let cool to room temperature before cutting, ideally waiting overnight.<\/p>\n<h2>Variations<\/h2>\n<p>I love variations of this recipe! \u00a0Replace some or all of the chopped nuts with chocolate chips, other flavor chips, dried fruit, etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Raspberry-sour cream brownies:<\/strong> Decrease the butter to 1\/2 cup. \u00a0Omit nuts. \u00a0Add 1\/2 cup sour cream, 2 cups raspberries (fresh or frozen), and 2 tbsp raspberry jam. \u00a0Follow above directions, folding in the sour cream, raspberries, and jam after stirring in the dry ingredients.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cherry brownies:<\/strong> Omit nuts, add 1 cup cherry jam. \u00a0Follow above directions. \u00a0After spreading batter in prepared tin, gently dollop jam on top of batter, then use a knife to swirl it through.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are at least a million brownie recipes out there. \u00a0This is my current favorite, based on this one.
