{"id":794,"date":"2012-04-19T07:00:13","date_gmt":"2012-04-19T14:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nadynerichmond.com\/blog\/?p=794"},"modified":"2012-04-15T22:12:59","modified_gmt":"2012-04-16T05:12:59","slug":"oh-sony-how-can-you-get-it-so-wrong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nadynerichmond.com\/blog\/2012\/04\/19\/oh-sony-how-can-you-get-it-so-wrong\/","title":{"rendered":"oh, Sony, how can you get it so wrong?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few months ago, I was deeply in love with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.popmarket.com\/\">PopMarket<\/a>. \u00a0It&#8217;s a daily deal website for music, and I went through an intense phase of buying lots of music from them. \u00a0But then it became clear how bad this relationship was for me, in the form of a botched order. \u00a0Last September, I ordered a three-album set, one of which was a double-disc version of Janis Joplin&#8217;s seminal <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B0009MAP0Y\/littlebluewor-20\">Pearl<\/a><\/em>. \u00a0When I got the order, I discovered a manufacturing error: instead of <em>Pearl<\/em>, the discs inside the packaging were of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B000AP2Z5I\/littlebluewor-20\">Earth, Wind, &amp; Fire<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I wrote to PopMarket, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nadynerichmond.com\/blog\/2011\/10\/04\/now-thats-service\/\">got an almost instantaneous response<\/a>\u00a0where they sent me a replacement, and thus entered the rabbit hole. \u00a0The replacement had the same error, and then the replacement for the replacement had the same error. \u00a0After <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nadynerichmond.com\/blog\/2011\/10\/26\/so-maybe-it-wasnt-such-great-service\/\">a few weeks of trying to get them to either send me correct discs or refund the order<\/a>, I gave up. \u00a0And I haven&#8217;t ordered from PopMarket again.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, I got an email saying that my order of Johnny Cash&#8217;s <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B0009YNSC4\/littlebluewor-20\">The Legend<\/a><\/em> had shipped. \u00a0 This is one of the albums that I had ordered, back in those heady days, but I received it months ago. \u00a0I thought that their system must have hiccuped and sent a confirmation mail out again, so ignored it, but then the album showed up on my doorstep. \u00a0So I wrote to them again, asking (a) what to do with this album that they&#8217;ve entirely inexplicably sent me, and (b) whether they have any intent at all of sending the order that they still haven&#8217;t completed. \u00a0The response is rather opaque:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I&#8217;m sorry for any inconvenience that may have caused. I&#8217;ve forwarded your message to our warehouse department for review.
