{"id":600,"date":"2011-10-19T15:10:36","date_gmt":"2011-10-19T22:10:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nadynerichmond.com\/blog\/?p=600"},"modified":"2011-10-19T15:10:36","modified_gmt":"2011-10-19T22:10:36","slug":"ltfs-has-won-an-emmy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nadynerichmond.com\/blog\/2011\/10\/19\/ltfs-has-won-an-emmy\/","title":{"rendered":"LTFS has won an Emmy!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I hope you&#8217;ll forgive me for stepping away from my usual VMware and user experience posts to share some awesome news.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smallersystems.com\/blog\/\">Michael Richmond<\/a>, my husband, has just found out that <a title=\"And the Emmy goes to\u2026    LTFS\" href=\"http:\/\/www.smallersystems.com\/blog\/2011\/10\/and-the-emmy-goes-to-ltfs\/\">the project that he architected at IBM Research called LTFS has won an Engineering Emmy Award<\/a>. \u00a0Engineering Emmys are &#8220;presented to an individual, company or organization for engineering developments so significant an improvement on existing methods or so innovative in nature that they materially affect the transmission, recording or reception of television&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Michael has always had trouble explaining to people why his work on LTFS is so important and so ground-breaking. \u00a0He wrote a blog post about it titled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smallersystems.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/tape-does-anyone-care-about-tape-anymore\/\">&#8220;Tape?
