{"id":1592,"date":"2015-02-21T12:10:10","date_gmt":"2015-02-21T20:10:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nadynerichmond.com\/blog\/?p=1592"},"modified":"2015-02-21T12:10:10","modified_gmt":"2015-02-21T20:10:10","slug":"missing-album-artwork-on-iphone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nadynerichmond.com\/blog\/2015\/02\/21\/missing-album-artwork-on-iphone\/","title":{"rendered":"missing album artwork on iPhone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After spending hours figuring out a fix for <a title=\"43 GB of mysterious \u201cother\u201d on my iPhone\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nadynerichmond.com\/blog\/2014\/10\/24\/43-gb-of-mysterious-other-on-my-iphone\/\">43 GB of mysterious \u201cother\u201d on my iPhone<\/a>\u00a0a few months ago, I suppose I shouldn&#8217;t be surprised that I ran into yet another problem syncing my iPhone and iTunes.<\/p>\n<p>This time, the problem is with an iPhone 6 running iOS 8, and iTunes 11<sup class='footnote'><a href='#fn-1592-1' id='fnref-1592-1' onclick='return fdfootnote_show(1592)'>1<\/a><\/sup>. \u00a0I&#8217;ve got over 60GB of music on my iPhone. \u00a0One afternoon earlier this week, I noticed that after syncing my iPhone, all of my album artwork was missing. \u00a0I&#8217;ve got album artwork for everything in iTunes, and it was quite annoying to have it go missing. \u00a0I tried the basic fix, which was re-syncing the iPhone. \u00a0That didn&#8217;t work: my iPhone still didn&#8217;t have any album artwork.<\/p>\n<p>Next, I decided that I would try to delete the music from my iPhone, and then re-add it. \u00a0That didn&#8217;t work. \u00a0I connected my iPhone to my Mac, unchecked &#8220;sync Music&#8221;, and then clicked the &#8220;Sync&#8221; button. \u00a0I let it go for 3 hours, and it seemed stuck. \u00a0In the Music app on my iPhone, the list of songs was constantly updating, but nothing was actually getting deleted. \u00a0So I cancelled the operation, then tried to sync again. \u00a0When I did that, I discovered that I had 60GB of &#8220;other&#8221; on my iPhone.<\/p>\n<p>At least I&#8217;ve been here before. \u00a0I tried rebooting the phone, and that didn&#8217;t make a difference. \u00a0I did the same thing as last time: erased the phone and let iTunes restore it. \u00a0This time, the mysterious &#8220;other&#8221; was missing. \u00a0Of course, the sync stalled again. \u00a0I let it go for about 20 minutes before pulling the plug and restarting the sync. \u00a0On the second sync, I had a functional iPhone, but no music. \u00a0I re-checked &#8220;Sync Music&#8221;, and started yet another sync. \u00a0A couple of hours later, my iPhone had its artwork back.<\/p>\n<p>All told, I lost a whole evening to this. \u00a0Come on, iTunes. \u00a0Get it together.<\/p>\n<div class='footnotes' id='footnotes-1592'>\n<div class='footnotedivider'><\/div>\n<ol>\n<li id='fn-1592-1'> Yes, I haven&#8217;t updated to iTunes 12.
