{"id":118,"date":"2010-10-21T07:53:27","date_gmt":"2010-10-21T14:53:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nadynerichmond.com\/blog\/?p=118"},"modified":"2010-10-21T13:30:07","modified_gmt":"2010-10-21T20:30:07","slug":"qa-does-excelmac-2011-have-pivot-tables","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nadynerichmond.com\/blog\/2010\/10\/21\/qa-does-excelmac-2011-have-pivot-tables\/","title":{"rendered":"Q&#038;A: does Excel:Mac 2011 have pivot tables?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Via <a href=\"mailto:nadyne@gmail.com\">email<\/a>, I got this kinda perplexing question:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>i heard that the new excel doesn&#8217;t have pivot tables &#8211; why are you keeping macs out of business???<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m trying to figure out where this came from, and I&#8217;m not quite sure. \u00a0Excel 2008 already had pivot table support (to get started with pivot tables in Excel 2008, check out <a title=\"Excel 2008 Help and How-To: Create a pivot table report\" href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/mac\/help.mspx?target=a789cdd6-0495-4130-869c-f1773a25a9511033&amp;clr=99-1-0&amp;ep=8&amp;rtype=2&amp;pos=4&amp;quid=51ab17ed-91e8-4812-9ef9-8d6d10673cf0&amp;CTT=Search&amp;MODE=ct&amp;locale=en-US&amp;usid=278a9709-b8a0-46d3-91a0-a7e5a5d23aa0\">Create a pivot table report<\/a> in the Excel help, and there&#8217;s a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lynda.com\/home\/DisplayCourse.aspx?lpk2=55766\">Lynda.com tutorial<\/a> for it too). \u00a0My only guess about this confusion is that someone might have misunderstood <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nadynerichmond.com\/blog\/2010\/10\/13\/walt-mossberg-by-far-the-best-mac-version-of-the-suite-ive-used\/\">Walt Mossberg&#8217;s review<\/a>, in which he noted that Office:Mac 2011 doesn&#8217;t have all of the features of Office 2010 for Windows, such as <a href=\"http:\/\/office.microsoft.com\/en-us\/excel-help\/overview-of-pivottable-and-pivotchart-reports-HP010342752.aspx?CTT=1\">pivot <\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/office.microsoft.com\/en-us\/excel-help\/overview-of-pivottable-and-pivotchart-reports-HP010342752.aspx?CTT=1\">charts<\/a><\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/office.microsoft.com\/en-us\/excel-help\/overview-of-pivottable-and-pivotchart-reports-HP010342752.aspx?CTT=1\"> in Excel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In Excel:Mac 2011, we made a big investment in improving matters for our power users, which includes some great improvements to pivot tables. \u00a0If you&#8217;re an Excel guru, check it out and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/mac\/suggestions.mspx\">tell us what you think<\/a>. \u00a0I think that Excel gurus will especially appreciate the performance improvements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Via email, I got this kinda perplexing question: i heard that the new excel doesn&#8217;t have pivot tables &#8211; why are you keeping macs out of business???
